What is the functional difference between the WD Elements 1 TB and 1 TB WD My Book Essential external hard drive?
I could get these two units $ 69, so I bought both and intend to return one. The main difference I see in the box is that the elements WD format already formatted for Windows, 7, and my book is Vista / Mac compatible out of the box. I use a desktop and a HP TouchSmart notebook HP TouchSmart as in Vista. I want to store large JPG, PNG and TIFF, music and video from my camcorder as a digital file if I my original files on my desktop. CD (still sealed too many files). I would also be able to access external files on my laptop although sometimes daily portability is not my main concern.
The elements that USB only. A MyBook USB, eSATA and 1394. Exactly the kind of interface included and becomes a matter of preference. You can format as you want. The specification does not provide any information accurate unit within them, but probably the same. So if you want some flexibility on how to move the contact elements.
